Oh, Hi! Yo!
Guess where we went? Well, 3 of us actually.
As you likely already know, Tyler is aajor Twenty-one pilots fan. The filmed a music video (Choker) at Big Fun in Columbus, so we had to go and see it! Tyler bought a bunch of fun stuff and even was gifted a piece of the artwork used in the music video! The band grew up in Columbus, so it makes perfect sense they would do videos here.
We had to eat all the food! We managed to find a vegan cheese steak with fried pickles (and vegan ranch) which were absolutely amazing. The same place (a 50s style drive in dog friendly diner called "Doodle Drove In") had a vegan key lime cookie which we got for Stefanie's birthday
Dylan was shipped off to boot camp for the week (or his uncle's house in LA) and Stefanie, Sarah (who is writing) and Tyler spent the week in Ohio.
We found a summer camp that was a perfect fit for him, but since it's a day camp, we spent the week here together. He had the days at camp, having fun, while we spent the days frolicking (via car mostly trying to find things that weren't closed...). The afternoons were a mix of stuff.
Here's a quick photo dump with captions so you know what you're seeing, they aren't in any particular order.
We found out about this free fossil pit in PA. It happened to be about at the halfway point between home and Akron. Tyler is a rock fanatic (always has been) and has an added affinity to fossils. It seemed the perfect fit. The part we missed was that the fossils are in SLATE not SAND so without a hammer and chisel, there wasn't much to do. Someone lent us a hammer (very kind!) and we went to town. For like 5 minutes. We didn't know what to look for or to do, and it was hot as could be, so now that we have some info we can come back - prepared!!
ahh the whole reason to come! Camp Indigo - where a kid can truly just be a kid. This popped up somewhat randomly on my phone and I decided to check it out. It was one of those "is this too good to be true?" situations. The camp looked really fun, though who posts how crummy their camp is? By the end of day one, he came out of camp saying things like "best day ever" and "when we come back next year..."
He made some really good friends!
They had multiple flavors of multiple items in multiple quantities.... It was a bit overwhelming
Spoiler alert: These look and taste like foam. There is almost no juice in them. 4/10. Do not recommend.
Unfortunately, our week had to come to an end. It was full of fun, new friends, tourism, and candy.
Oh, later, we (okay, it was me) needed to stop for coffee. We found a 7brew which has non dairy options, was right off the highway, and looked decent. I've never seen a drive thru coffee place like this. There were 2 lines with multiple people taking orders on a tablet. It was so busy, they opened a third line. We got up close to the front, where you pick up drinks, and it was delivered to us, even though we were second in line. There was at least 20 employees working on a Saturday at 12/1pm. I made a comment about how busy it was and the woman told me that the day before (the 4th of July), they were at least twice as busy as they were at that time.
The drinks were delicious and the additional cups of water were nice and cold.
