Winter break 2024

Ahh winter break
Every winter for the past 6 years, we've traveled with Lenore, Andrew, and Clay to an Airbnb/VRBO home for a few days. So far we've done Montreal, Boston, Philadelphia, Queens (that was during COVID height) and Liverpool PA. This year was Jefferson NY, the Catskills.
We have a few things we live to do each winter: Saran wrap ball, gingerbread house building, escape room, generally having fun.
This year was no exception. 
We take building very seriously! (We each get one set to build)


Snoop on the Stoop

Just before building, we watched A Charlie Brown Christmas, so naturally this was needed for the Peanuts house.


Look at our beautiful village! 


This game has been so much fun. We started it many years back and love it! 

As time has passed, we've gotten more and more creative with "winners" items. One year was socks, this year was a custom homemade shirt!

The trophy gets passed year by year to the new winner (whoever gets the last item).

We play a lot of games, codenames and Huggermugger are our favorites. 


Here was our backyard at the house. Right of the center, on land, your can just barely make out the kids - one is 19 and the other two are 13, but they will always be kids to me! 

Of course we had the escape room challenge - Sherlocks Library - we crushed it.


We had a pretty awesome time and are all looking forward to next year!

Oh, Hi! Yo!

Guess where we went? Well, 3 of us actually. Dylan was shipped off to boot camp for the week (or his uncle's house in LA) and Stefanie, Sarah (who is writing) and Tyler spent the week in Ohio. We found a summer camp that was a perfect fit for him, but since it's a day camp, we spent the week here together. He had the days at camp, having fun, while we spent the days frolicking (via car mostly trying to find things that weren't closed...). The afternoons were a mix of stuff. Here's a quick photo dump with captions so you know what you're seeing, they aren't in any particular order. We found out about this free fossil pit in PA. It happened to be about at the halfway point between home and Akron. Tyler is a rock fanatic (always has been) and has an added affinity to fossils. It seemed the perfect fit. Connecticut

We drove up to Hartford Connecticut for the evening on Tuesday. We went to see Twenty-one pilots in concert to celebrate the kids birthday. The kids had the time of their lives!! They got super close during one of their "in audience" moments, we got to meet Tyler's online friend Sebastian, and best of all, we got to see such an awesome group.  Here's a quick photo dump:

Camping in NJ

Sarah & Tyler went to Southern NJ to camp. We cut the trip sorry but had a fun day!  Our campsite was large and lovely, though no picnic table.  This view is from the tent pad, looking out towards the parking area. It's just beyond the trees on the right. It was nice to have a grill and gas supplied by the kampground. We've never had that before. Unfortunately, that didn't work for us because we didn't have an appropriate spatula. We had brought our regular grill anyway, so we just used that (it was quicker too!) The seats around the fire pit were lovely too. We explored just a little, and took very few photos, so enjoy what we DO have. We happened upon a lake which we walked along. There were ducklings and fish! We spent our morning with a miniature tour of Philadelphia. We didn't do much, as it was crazy hot and humid, but we did get to Elfreths Alley which was über cool. ...
